CONCEPT
At first glance, fashion and architecture may seem vastly different – one adorns the body while the other shapes spaces. However, they share much in common. According to architect Renata Zappellini, "Fashion and architecture both start from the same point, which is the human body, proportion, the search for form."
Both architecture and fashion serve primarily to shelter and dress, fulfilling the most basic needs of humans while also embracing aesthetics. Yet, their purpose extends far beyond that, serving as expressions of identity, politics, behavior, and physical, emotional, and intellectual experiences.
Both fields carry signs of the zeitgeist, integrating elements from different eras, cultures, and places, with architects and designers influenced by the historical moment in which they live.
As Coco Chanel famously said, "Fashion is architecture, it's just a matter of proportion".
Thus, in my work, through photographs, I present the relationship between the two.
